The educational component of your program is designed to expand
your knowledge of Italy, its history, culture and language while
enriching your vacation. All of our professors hold university
degrees and have been chosen to teach you because of their enthusiasm
and expertise in their field of study. Attendance at classes
is highly recommended, but is not mandatory. Classes will be
held in an air-conditioned room looking out onto the beautiful
sea.
Art and Archaeology
You will be sojourning in the Campania region of Italy which
is rich in ancient Greek & Roman art and archaeology. To
prepare you for your excursions to the ruins and the national
museum, an art historian will provide a lecture on the history
of the region, its art and archaeology. No prior knowledge of
the subject is necessary.
Language Classes
There will be 10 hours of language instruction at the beginner
level and 10 hours at the intermediate-advanced level. The classes
will be fun and will prepare you to go out into the Italian
community and practice what you have learned. The teaching method
implemented is a conversational approach with a strong grammatical
background.
The text which will be used during your program is Adesso by
Marcel Danesi (2nd Edition). Please procure a copy before departing
